During the evaluation of patients with Graves's disease, the Pediatric Thyroid Center team at CHOP reviews any test results that have been done, answers any questions the patient and family might have and discusses the next steps in the evaluation process.
For patients with Graves' disease who might benefit from definitive therapy -- surgery or radioactive iodine ablation -- our team will review the information about both treatment options with the patient and family to help them make appropriate care decisions. The Pediatric Thyroid team will then develop a treatment plan and coordinate care among appropriate CHOP specialists, whether it's nuclear medicine for radioactive iodine treatment or surgery.
